Could I Have Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia Rheumatica is also know as FM or FMS (Fibromyalgia Syndrome).  It is an enigmatic disorder with numerous similarities to CFIDS.  It is a disorder of unknown cause, characterized by muscle pain, muscle discomfort, fatigue, and sleep disturbances.  The degree of muscle pain ranges from mild discomfort to severe unrelenting pain. Other organ systems which may be involved include the gastrointestinal, cardiovascular and nervous systems.  To make the diagnosis at least 11 out of 18 designated tender points must be demonstrable.  Cognitive, memory, psychological disturbances are also common.  There may also be hypersensitivity, heat intolerance and depression.

Recent trails have yeilded positive results for treating this disorder.  Dr. Mazlen employs some of these agents as well as a number of holistic modalities to treat patients with Fibromyalgia.  As with CFIDS, a thorough laboratory analysis is essential to the planning of an individualized treatment program.
